How To Promote A Podcast: The Basic Guide For Podcasters

If you’re looking for the best way to get your new podcast out there, then this is the guide for you! We go into more depth in the template above but this information should help you get started.

So let’s dive right into it!

1. Create an iTunes Listing

The first thing that you need to do if you want people to find your podcast is create an iTunes listing. This will allow them to subscribe to your podcast so they can listen whenever they like.

To create an iTunes listing, go to www.itunes.com/podcasts. Here you’ll see all of the podcasts listed on the site. You can click on any one of these podcasts to view more information about it.

Once you have found the podcast that you would like to add to iTunes, simply click on “Add to My Library”.

2. Add Your Podcast To Other Sites

After creating an iTunes listing, you should now start adding your podcast to other sites such as Stitcher or Google Play Music. These are great places to share your podcast with others because they already have millions of users who are listening to their content.

3. Start An Email List

An email list is another great place to send your podcast to. It allows you to reach out to your audience directly and keep them updated on everything happening with your podcast.

You can use tools such as MailChimp to set up your own email list. There are many different options available to you but I recommend using something simple and easy to manage.

4. Use Social Media

Social media has become one of the biggest platforms for sharing content online. If you haven’t started using social media yet, then you really should be doing so.

You can use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, etc. to help spread the word about your podcast.

5. Get Reviews

Getting reviews from listeners is one of the best things you can do to promote your podcast. People love to hear what other people think about a product or service. So by getting reviews, you’re giving potential customers a chance to try out your podcast before buying it.

6. Give Away Free Stuff

Another great way to promote your podcast is to offer free stuff to your listeners. Giving away freebies helps build trust between yourself and your audience. Plus, it gives them a reason to come back and listen to your podcast again.

7. Ask For Feedback

One of the best ways to improve your podcast is to ask for feedback. Listeners love to give advice and suggestions to podcasters. They feel like they’re part of the process and they want to make sure that you’re making the best decision possible.

8. Have Fun With It

Finally, don’t forget to have fun while you’re promoting your podcast. Don’t take it too seriously. Make sure that you’ve got a good attitude and that you enjoy what you’re doing. That way, you won’t get burned out and lose interest in your podcast.

9. Be Patient

It takes time to grow your podcast. But once you start seeing results, you’ll know that you’re on the right track. Just remember to stay patient and continue working hard at it.

10. Keep Updating

If you’re not updating your podcast regularly, then you’re going to lose followers and fans. Always update your podcast with new episodes. This will allow your audience to find new content to listen to.
