The steps to launching your podcast are simple, but there are many different ways to go about it.

Here’s the cliff notes on how you can get started:

  1. Decide what kind of show you want to do. Do you want to make a comedy or talk show? Are you going to interview people or just have conversations with them? What is the purpose of your podcast? Is it for entertainment purposes or educational ones?
  2. Find out if you need any special equipment to record your podcast. If you don’t have an audio recorder, you might be able to use something like Audacity (free) on your computer to record your voice and then edit it later. You can also buy a microphone that plugs into your laptop or desktop computer.
  3. Choose a name for your podcast. This will be the title of your podcast when other people search for podcasts by using iTunes, Spotify or Google Play. It should be catchy and easy to remember.
  4. Create a website for your podcast. Ensure you include links to all the episodes so listeners can easily find them.
  5. Start recording!
  6. Upload your podcast to one of the popular platforms such as iTunes or Spotify.
  7. Promote your podcast! There are many ways to promote your podcast including social media, email marketing, advertising in local newspapers and magazines, etc.
