Notion Formula: calculate the number of days between two date fields (properties) in Notion where you’ve got the date range in a single cell (field)
The formula is:
dateBetween(end(prop("Date Range Property Name")), start(prop("Date Range Property Name")), "days")
↑ Copy and paste into Notion then switch out the bold property name/s in the formula to match the name of the property name/s you’re using.
How to create a date formula in Notion
The steps to creating a date formula in Notion are:
- Create a Notion page
- Add a Notion database using the command /database (choose Database – Inline for this example)
- Add a column (property) by clicking on the + icon to the right of the existing column (property) name
- Select Date
- You can choose to add an extra date column (property) to set up a formula between the two properties or use a single column (property)
- Add another column (property) and scroll down to select Formula
- Click Edit next to the word Formula
- Add your formula in the grey box titled “Type a formula” and then click Done

- Click on the column (property) name and select Edit Property
- Click Edit next to the word Formula
- Edit your formula in the grey box and then click Done
